Research shows that there is a clear disparity between male and female graduates. When we further look at young men and women of color, the number of successful matriculations is even more disproportionate. Thus, the answer is clear – Skhool Worcs exists to educate young men of color in efforts to assist them in reaching higher scholastic altitudes while training them to be eligible for various levels of employment.

In part with the lack of education, young men are also not succeeding in securing jobs in today’s economy largely because of their low level of education and lack of work readiness skills thus the pool of success is greatly diminished. From this vantage point, the glass ceiling is even higher to the point where young men of color can’t even visualize themselves in a position of economic stability. Further, young men who are child welfare and juvenile justice involved, often struggle more to achieve self–resilience due to the impact of negative experiences they may have witnessed in their life. Without a positive role–model or mentor to introduce a different idea of how to succeed in life, young men will continue to be at risk of failure and even death. It is so that changing the lives of these young men is our primary focus.
